Grape Variety

85% Pinot Noir, 12% Pinot Meunier, 3% Early Pinot Noir

At Chapel Down, Pinot Noir is the second most important grape variety for traditional method Sparkling Wine, behind Chardonnay. The Pinot Noir grape variety makes up approximately one third of all the area under vine in the UK and constitutes 38% of the vineyard area in Champagne. The majority of Chapel Down's vineyards are planted on the North Downs of Kent - the Garden of England's very own terroir with south facing chalk slopes and ideal warmer weather. However we also have other partner vineyards on clay, chalk and greensand across the Weald of Kent, a variety of terroirs which are suitable for the cultivation of exceptional quality fruit.

Made from the heart of the first pressing, Coeur de Cuvee contains the finest quality portion of juice extracted from the first press cycle. Purity of terroir expression from the best blocks of Chardonnay on the chalk soiled Kit's Coty Estate is balanced with well integrated oak and shortbread notes derived from wild fermentation and maturation on its lees in old French oak barrels for seven months.
