Product Description

Kit's Coty Chardonnay is widely considered to be one of the finest still wines from England. This multi award-winning wine is produced from the finest Chardonnay parcels within our 100-acre Kit's Coty vineyard on the North Downs of Kent.

A rich and opulent white wine with complex aromas of ripe apple and apricot. The palate is crisp, elegant with notes of buttery hints followed by a long, rich and satisifying finish.

Grape Variety

Chardonnay 100%

Chardonnay is one of the classic grape varieties for sparkling wine production, for this reason it should come as no surprise that in the UK, where sparkling wine dominates production, Chardonnay is the most widely planted grape variety. While Sparkling is the headliner, Chapel Down has been producing still Chardonnay since 2009. Our home is roughly 280 miles from Chablis as the crow flies and with our sites and clones only getting better, our still Chardonnay's are complex, vibrant and shine a light on this once side-lined grape.

VINEYARD

Kit’s Coty, Kent 100%

Kit's Coty is a 100 acre vineyard on the North Downs of Kent. Its southerly aspect ensures the vines capture the sunlight all season long, while the warm, free draining chalk soils provide the perfect terroir for producing well balanced, intensely flavoured fruit that truly express their identify and the unique soil qualities.

WINEMAKING

We hand harvested the grapes in late September 2021. The fruit was whole bunch pressed before undergoing wild fermentation in old French oak barrels. This vintage of Kit's Coty Chardonnay is more subtly oaked, richer and complex, with a long finish and tasting notes of toasted hazelnut.
