We are delighted to share that our Chapel Down Rosé has won a prestigious trophy at this year’s International Wine Challenge Awards!
Following the Gold Medal awarded last week, Chapel Down Rosé has now been named Best English Sparkling Non-Vintage Rosé, receiving an outstanding 95/100 points from the IWC judges.
Our Head Winemaker, Josh Donaghay-Spire, said of the award:
"This accolade reflects the investment, care and dedication we have put into our vineyards over the last decade. As our newer vineyard plantings continue to mature, the quality of the fruit continues to elevate our wines year after year. There is still enormous potential ahead as we continue to shape this exciting new wine region in England.
We do not make wine for external validation. We do it because we are passionate about showcasing the exceptional terroir that Kent has to offer. However, to see our wines recognised on the international stage is a huge honour for everyone across the business.
We are especially proud of this Rosé because of the style we have achieved. It has an effortless texture that is light, delicate and elegant. It is one of the wines I am most proud of, reflecting the innovation and attention we have dedicated to our sparkling Rosé winemaking and it is also the wine I most often choose to share with friends and family.”
In addition to this accolade for our Rose, Chapel Down Grand Reserve 2019, Kit's Coty Chardonnay 2023 also achieved Gold Medals from the IWC. Our Grand Reserve was described as "Beautiful pronounced [with] ... very good fruit structure", Kit's Coty Chardonnay was noted as a "fabulously fresh and fragrant wine", while our Chapel Down Rosé was commended for its "bright fresh crunchy red fruits".
