Product Description

With aromas of wild strawberries, redcurrant and shortbread, this elegant rosé sparkling has a crisp, fresh palate and fine mousse.

Grape Variety

96% Pinot Noir, 4% Early Pinot Noir

At Chapel Down, Pinot Noir is the second most important grape variety for traditional method Sparkling Wine, behind Chardonnay. The Pinot Noir grape variety makes up approximately one third of all the area under vine in the UK and constitutes 38% of the vineyard area in Champagne. Many wine regions grow Pinot Noir to use in red winemaking, but here at Chapel Down we use it exclusively for traditional method sparkling wine and, in our rosé still wines.

VINEYARD

The majority of Chapel Down's vineyards are planted on the North Downs of Kent - the Garden of England's very own terroir with south facing chalk slopes and ideal warmer weather. However we also have other partner vineyards on clay, chalk and greensand across the Weald of Kent, a variety of terroirs which are suitable for the cultivation of exceptional quality fruit.

WINEMAKING

Chapel Down Rosé Reserve goes through cool fermentation in stainless steel followed by full malolactic conversion. Maturation then takes place on fine lees in tank for 6 months before bottling. The wine then has an average of 18 months further ageing on lees in bottle.
