This month we launched a ‘Champagne Day’ campaign as part of our ongoing mission to change the way the world sees English sparkling wine and challenge perceptions on its quality and taste versus champagne.
On Friday 27th October we served hundreds of complimentary glasses of our award-winning English sparkling wine to arrivals at London St. Pancras station and named the activation ‘A fresher way to celebrate Champagne Day 2023’.
We were also thrilled to partner with the prestigious Searcys Champagne Bar and Brasserie, located on the Grand Terrace of St Pancras International, to extend the opportunity for guests to enjoy a free glass of Chapel Down over the weekend. We served 200 glasses of Chapel Down sparkling wine (100 glasses on Saturday 28th and 100 glasses on Sunday 29th October). Plus, for the first time, Searcys featured an English sparkling wine (our Chapel Down Brut) as part of its popular ‘Limitless Brunch’ offering on one day only - Sunday, 29th October.
This recent campaign follows on from our success with the much acclaimed ‘Chapelle en Bas’ blind taste test earlier in the year, which saw 60% of consumers sampled in the Champagne region of France prefer Chapel Down to a leading champagne house.
“Champagne Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate one of the finest styles of wine in the world and, here at Chapel Down, we were keen to mark the day in England with an English twist! Our sparkling wines are made using the same method as champagne, from fruit grown on near identical chalk soil, so it seemed apt to be celebrating the day here in England too!
“Furthermore, we are honoured to be partnering with Searcys, one of the most recognisable names in British hospitality, to bring Chapel Down to a new audience of sparkling wine drinkers this weekend.”
Chapel Down Chief Marketing Officer, Liam Newton
