Albarino was planted by the Nicholas family here in Kent after many holidays in Galicia in Spain. In warm years such as 2022 is ripens with a high natural acidity and beautifully lean style which cannot be made anywhere else. Chapel Down were the first winemaker to produce an English Albariño.
Expect aromas of grapefruit zest complimented with a super crisp palate.

Traditionally grown on the Iberian Peninsula, the Albariño grape variety is acclaimed for its refreshing stone fruit flavours, acidity and hints of salinity. It's small, thick skinned grapes make it hard to produce, however trial plantings by the Nicholas family (long time Albariño advocates) in Sandhurst, Kent have demonstrated it's potential long term success in growing in a warming UK maritime climate.
